Preflight

In accordance with the regulations of Transport Canada and the Canada Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB), all offshore personnel are required to be briefed on the safety and egress features of the type of aircraft they will be traveling on.

Some information covered in the briefing includes:
  • Prohibited items for both the aircraft and offshore
  • Correct way to approach the aircraft
  • Use of earplugs and headsets in flight
  • Correct donning of the immersion suit
  • Safety features of the aircraft
  • Getting out of the aircraft in the event of a landing on water
  • Methods of disembarking and boarding the aircraft offshore
The standard method of briefing is by a professionally created briefing video however; this may be replaced by, or augmented with, a verbal briefing as required.
