Flight Departure

After passengers have received the pre-flight briefing, they will don their issued immersion suits and headsets in preparation for departure. Passengers are not permitted to access the ramp area (portion of the tarmac closest to the heliport) or board the aircraft without escort. The aircraft may be running during boarding.

Passengers must follow the directions of the escort in approaching and boarding the aircraft and must be aware that there may be several aircraft on the ramp at any time. Personnel should be cognizant of their surroundings and be mindful of their personal safety in approaching and boarding the aircraft. A boarding agent will be present on the aircraft to assist with seating and seatbelts as required.

Depending on the type of aircraft, in flight announcements may be heard via an infrared headset system or through the in-cabin speakers.

Earplugs are also available for passenger use and are located in the briefing room. These should not be worn under any headset, as they will prevent the passenger from hearing in flight announcements. Earplugs are best utilized in disembarking the aircraft offshore, when passengers are required to leave headsets in the passenger cabin.
