Systems and Security Administrator

Cougar Helicopters Inc. currently has an opportunity for a full-time permanent Systems and Security Administrator.

Reporting to the Operations Services Manager, this role is responsible for day to day support of all our server, network, and security devices, while working very closely with our Computer/Network Support Specialist to help monitor and maintain the health and stability of our IT hardware and network. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator and trouble-shooter, able to build effective working relationships with employees, with a strong attention to detail. You will continuously improve the systems and processes around you while thriving in a demanding environment.

Specifically, you will focus on:

  • Enterprise Systems / Network - Management of systems and network infrastructure including; maintaining and configuring network related hardware/software (VPN, Firewall, routers, Switches, WAPS); maintaining and monitoring all servers (Windows, Linux, AWS) hybrid Virtual / Physical infrastructure; managing usage/capacity and operating system updates; documenting standards for all systems; managing Active Directory (Certificate Authority, Domain Name System, Dynamic Host Communication Protocol, Network Protection Server, Internet Information Server, Windows Server Update services, Group Policy’s) and WAP Configuration; monitoring data flow.
  • Internal Network Security - Ensuring security standards are set, documented, and maintained for all operating units. Firewall management. Configure content filtering, intrusion prevention and client/network antivirus. Providing reports on threats and potential breaches. Remaining informed of industry trents in network security and making recommendations to maintain security and business continuity.
  • IT Hardware and Software Management - Managing IT hardware and software projects in conjunction with the Architecture Contractors, Computer/Network Support Specialist and Operations Services Manager. Determine and provide the support required for completed projects in conjunction with all stakeholders. Work with in-house software developer.
  • Backups - Managing all backups of corporate data with regular audits of its functionality. Determine and provide the support required for disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Aircraft Maintenance/QA data - Assisting maintenance staff with procuring, processing, and moving data from the helicopter to various systems in house and external.
  • Technical Advice and Guidance – Supporting managers, employees, and other team members on issues related to information technology.

You have a post-secondary degree/diploma in IT, 8-10 years of systems administration experience supporting users in a Microsoft Active Directory environment and experience with Sonicwall routers. Microsoft certification is considered an asset. You have a proven track record of developing and implementing IT security, strategy and plans. You must also qualify for an Airport Security Pass and be able to obtain and maintain Controlled Goods Clearance. The position will be a part of an on-call schedule within the IT department to ensure operational support.
